Support Your Tech publishes step-by-step guides for Windows, Microsoft Office, Google apps, iPhone, and other everyday technology. Each guide is written to help you finish one specific task and get back to what you were doing.
Who writes the guides
Support Your Tech was founded in 2017 and is run by Matt Jacobs, who writes and updates the guides. Matt has worked as an IT consultant for small businesses since earning his Master’s degree in 2003, and he still does some consulting work alongside the site. His guides cover Windows, Microsoft Office, Apple devices, Android, and Google apps.
Every article shows the date it was last updated, and you can see everything Matt has written on his author page.
How we make and check our guides
For every new or updated guide, we:
- check the steps against the current version of the software, on a real device or against the maker’s official documentation;
- add our own screenshots, or clearly labeled illustrations, of the settings and menus the steps refer to;
- link to the official Microsoft, Apple, or Google page when there is one; and
- show the date the guide was last updated.
Many of our older guides were written before we adopted this standard, and some do not have screenshots yet. We are reviewing the archive. We update guides that are still useful, combine guides that cover the same task, and remove guides that are out of date.
Corrections
Software changes often. If a step no longer matches what you see, please tell us through our contact form. Include the article link and your device and software version. We check every report and update the guide when needed.

The site is free to read and is paid for by advertising. Some links are affiliate links; see our affiliate disclaimer. Advertisers do not decide what we write about or what we recommend.
