The label “Copilot Preview” comes from earlier stages of Windows Copilot. Current Windows 11 installations can present Copilot as an app or through other Microsoft experiences, so removal and visibility controls depend on the Windows build and Copilot version installed on the PC.
How to Remove Copilot From Windows 11 When Uninstall Is Available
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Copilot.
- Open its three-dot menu.
- Select Uninstall if Windows provides that supported option, then confirm.
If You Only Want Copilot Off the Taskbar
If Copilot is pinned like a normal app, right-click its taskbar icon and choose Unpin from taskbar. This removes the shortcut without necessarily uninstalling the application.
Why Old “Copilot Preview” Instructions Can Be Wrong
Microsoft has changed Copilot’s Windows integration over time. Registry values, policy names, and taskbar switches described in older guides may target a previous implementation. Avoid forcing old tweaks onto a current Windows build.
