Excel is normally installed as part of a licensed Microsoft 365 or Office product, or used as Excel for the web. Avoid websites offering cracked installers or unauthorized ‘free Excel’ downloads.
Steps
Step 1: Choose the Excel option you are licensed to use
Use a Microsoft 365/Office license that includes desktop Excel, or use Excel for the web if its features meet your needs.
Step 2: Sign in to Microsoft through the official service
Use the Microsoft account or work/school account associated with your license.
Step 3: Install Microsoft 365 or Office
From Microsoft’s official account/installation interface, choose the available install option and run the downloaded installer.
Step 4: Open Excel
After installation, open Start, search for Excel, and launch it.
Step 5: Activate legitimately
Sign in with the licensed account or follow Microsoft’s supported product-key/organization activation process.
Step 6: Run updates
Use Office’s supported update mechanism so Excel receives current fixes.
Important Details
Desktop Excel generally requires an appropriate license. Excel for the web provides a legitimate browser-based option but does not include every desktop feature. Do not use KMS emulators, activation scripts, or third-party repackaged Office installers.
