You can duplicate a photo on an iPhone 14 directly from the Photos app. The duplicate becomes a separate item that you can edit without intentionally changing the original copy.
How to Duplicate a Picture on iPhone 14
- Open the Photos app.
- Select the picture you want to copy.
- Tap the More button represented by three dots.
- Choose Duplicate.
A second copy should appear in your photo library.
Duplicate More Than One Photo
In the Photos library, tap Select, choose the pictures you want, open the More menu, and choose Duplicate when that command is available for the selection. The interface can vary slightly with the installed iOS version.
Duplicate vs. Copy
Duplicate creates another photo item in your library. Copy places image data on the clipboard so you can paste it into another app. Use Duplicate when you want two versions to remain in Photos.
Why Duplicate Before Editing?
Photos normally supports nondestructive editing and can often revert an edited picture to its original state. A duplicate is still useful when you deliberately want to keep two independently edited versions visible in your library.
Duplicates Use Storage
Creating copies can increase the storage used by your photo library and, when iCloud Photos is enabled, your iCloud storage. If you create many experimental copies, review them later and keep only the versions you need.
