To display time in 24-hour format in Windows 10, change the regional time format so the short and long time use an hour format without AM or PM. Windows exposes these controls through its Region settings.
Change the time format
- Open Settings.
- Select Time & Language.
- Open Region.
- Choose the option to change data formats or related regional-format settings.
- Select a short-time format that uses 24-hour time.
- Change the long-time format as well if you want it to use 24-hour time.
In format notation, an uppercase or 24-hour-style hour component represents hours from 00 through 23, while a 12-hour format is paired with AM/PM.
This does not change the time itself
The setting changes how Windows displays the clock. It does not alter the current time, time zone, or automatic time synchronization.
Some applications have independent preferences
Programs that follow Windows regional settings should adopt the new format, but websites and applications can choose their own time display. If one program still shows 12-hour time, check its preferences.
Windows 10 normal support ended October 14, 2025.
