EA retired the Origin client for Windows and replaced it with the EA app. On a Windows PC today, you generally should not search for an old Origin installer.
Install the current EA app instead
- Go to EA’s official website.
- Download the current EA app for Windows.
- Run the installer.
- Sign in with the EA account that owns your games.
- Open the library and install the games you want to use.
If an old game or guide tells you to install Origin, check EA’s current support information for that title. Your account library is more important than preserving the obsolete launcher itself.
Avoid unofficial Origin downloads
Third-party sites may continue hosting old installers even though the Windows client has been retired. Those packages can be outdated, tampered with, or unable to connect properly. Use EA’s current software and support channels instead.
Windows 10 also passed the end of standard free support in October 2025. Check the current EA app’s system requirements and consider a supported Windows version for a gaming PC that remains in regular use.
