How to Enter BIOS Windows 11 HP: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners

On an HP computer running Windows 11, you can usually enter the UEFI/BIOS setup during startup or use Windows’ Advanced startup menu. The startup key can vary by HP model.

Enter HP BIOS during startup

  1. Save your work and shut down the computer.
  2. Turn the PC on and immediately tap Esc repeatedly to open the HP Startup Menu on models that support it.
  3. Choose the BIOS Setup option, commonly associated with F10.

Some HP models allow F10 to be pressed directly during startup. Check the exact model’s HP documentation if the startup menu does not appear.

Open UEFI settings from Windows 11

  1. Open Settings > System > Recovery.
  2. Under Advanced startup, select Restart now.
  3. After the PC restarts, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options.
  4. Select UEFI Firmware Settings when that option is available, then restart into firmware setup.

Change firmware settings carefully

BIOS/UEFI controls can affect booting, Secure Boot, virtualization, storage, and hardware behavior. Record existing values before changing unfamiliar settings. Do not disable security features simply to follow an old installation workaround.

If the firmware is protected by an administrator or BIOS password you do not know, use HP or your organization’s legitimate support process rather than attempting to bypass it.
