Intel Unison is no longer a practical Windows 10 installation target. Intel discontinued Unison during 2025, and the app’s supported Windows requirements were centered on Windows 11 rather than Windows 10. A current guide should not tell Windows 10 users to bypass Store requirements or sideload an old package.
Do not download unofficial Unison installers
Old app packages can remain on third-party download sites after a product is discontinued. Installing an unofficial or modified package creates security risk and does not restore the cloud services, support, or compatibility that the original product depended on.
If Unison is already installed
An existing installation may stop functioning fully as backend services and companion apps are retired. Back up any information you need independently and do not rely on the application as a long-term phone-to-PC workflow.
Use Phone Link for current Windows integration
Microsoft’s Phone Link is the built-in/current Windows option for connecting supported Android phones and iPhones to a PC. Available features depend on the phone platform, Windows version, device model, and regional support.
On a supported Windows PC, search Start for Phone Link and follow its pairing process. Install or use the companion functionality requested on the phone, then grant only the permissions required for the features you want.
Windows 10 itself has reached end of standard support
Microsoft ended standard free support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. That makes investing in discontinued connectivity software on Windows 10 an especially weak long-term plan. If the computer qualifies for Windows 11, migrate to the supported operating system and choose a currently maintained phone-integration solution.
If the PC cannot run Windows 11
Use platform-independent services for the tasks you actually need. Cloud storage can move files and photos, browser-based messaging can cover some communication services, and USB transfer remains appropriate for many devices. Choose a maintained tool rather than forcing an abandoned app onto unsupported hardware.
Why older instructions no longer work
Earlier Unison articles could legitimately point readers to Microsoft Store and pair a phone with the desktop app. Product availability and service status changed. The failure of those old steps is therefore not necessarily a problem with your PC or Microsoft Store.
