How to See Startup Programs in Windows 11: A Step-by-Step Guide

Windows 11 shows registered startup applications in both Settings and Task Manager. Open Settings > Apps > Startup for a simple list, or use Task Manager when you want more detail about startup impact.

View startup apps in Settings

  1. Press Windows + I.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Choose Startup.
  4. Review the applications and their current on/off status.

View startup apps in Task Manager

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc and open Startup apps. Task Manager can show information such as status and startup impact for supported entries.

Not every automatic process appears in this list

Windows services, scheduled tasks, drivers, and some application components can start automatically without appearing as ordinary startup apps. Do not disable those deeper components merely because you want a faster sign-in.

What should you disable?

Focus on applications you recognize and do not need immediately after login. Leave security software, required hardware utilities, and business-management tools enabled unless you understand the consequences of disabling them.
