With two monitors connected to a Windows 10 PC, you can extend the desktop and place different windows on each screen. Windows’ Snap feature can then divide the usable space on either monitor.
Set the monitors to Extend
- Right-click the desktop and choose Display settings.
- Select Identify so you know which physical screen corresponds to each number.
- Arrange the display boxes to match the monitors on your desk.
- Under multiple displays, choose Extend these displays.
- Apply the change.
Split your workspace
Drag a window to the left or right edge of a monitor to snap it to that half of the screen, then choose another window for the remaining area. You can also use Windows + Left Arrow or Windows + Right Arrow while a window is active.
If the pointer moves between monitors in an unexpected direction, return to Display settings and correct the arrangement. If a monitor is missing entirely, check its power, input selection, cable, dock, and graphics connection before changing drivers.
Windows 10’s standard free support ended in October 2025, although these display controls remain useful on existing installations.
