How to Remove Bing from Search Bar Windows 11: A Step-by-Step Guide

The Windows 11 taskbar search experience can include web results and online search features. Microsoft changes these controls over time, and there is not always a supported consumer setting that replaces Bing inside Windows Search with another search engine.

If you only want less search UI on the taskbar

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Personalization > Taskbar.
  3. Open the Search controls.
  4. Choose the taskbar search appearance you prefer, such as an icon or a hidden search control when your Windows version offers it.

Browser search is separate

If your goal is to use Google, DuckDuckGo, or another provider when browsing the web, change the default search engine inside your web browser. That does not necessarily change the provider used by Windows Search.

Be cautious with Registry hacks and third-party redirectors

Unofficial modifications that redirect Windows Search web requests can stop working after Windows updates or create privacy and stability issues. Avoid presenting a fragile Registry tweak as though it were a permanent supported Windows setting.

Search behavior can vary by release and organization

Windows 11 search features are updated through Windows servicing, and managed PCs can have search behavior controlled by policy. Check the options actually available on the current PC before applying older instructions.
