To print an Excel worksheet on legal-size paper, open the Page Layout tab, select Size, and choose Legal. Then check Print Preview before printing because changing the paper size can alter page breaks and scaling.
Change the worksheet to legal paper
- Open the workbook and select the worksheet you want to print.
- Choose Page Layout.
- Select Size.
- Choose Legal.
- Open File > Print and inspect the preview.
Legal paper is normally 8.5 by 14 inches in the United States.
If Legal is not available
Excel’s available paper sizes can depend on the selected printer and printer driver. Choose a printer that supports legal paper, then check the Size menu again. You may also need to configure the printer tray for legal-size media.
Fix awkward page breaks
Changing paper size does not guarantee that the worksheet will fit the way you want. Use orientation, margins, print area, scaling, and page-break controls as needed. Avoid shrinking a large sheet so aggressively that the printed text becomes difficult to read.
