The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 11 in iOS 13.4. This will also work on many other iOS devices, including things like the iPad Pro, the iPhone 11 Pro and some iPod Touch models. Note that you can use this method to create bold text, underline text and italicize text in places like Mail and the Notes app.
Step 1: Open Mail.
Step 2: Tap the Compose button.
Step 3: Enter all of the information for the email, including the text that you wish to make bold.
Step 4: Tap once on a word then choose the Select option, or double-tap on a work to select the word automatically.
Step 5: Touch the BIU button.
Step 6: Select the Bold option.
