How to Check Laptop Model Windows 11: A Step-by-Step Guide

You can identify a laptop model in Windows 11 without installing a third-party utility. The System Information app usually provides the manufacturer and model, while the label on the laptop can provide a more precise product or serial identifier.

Check the model with System Information

  1. Press Windows + R.
  2. Type msinfo32 and press Enter.
  3. Look for System Manufacturer and System Model.

These fields are useful when you need a model name for troubleshooting or support.

Check Settings for basic device information

Open Settings > System > About to see the device name, processor, installed RAM, system type, and Windows specifications. This page may not provide the manufacturer’s full commercial model number.

Use the physical product label when precision matters

Manufacturers often print a model, product number, service tag, or serial number on the bottom of the laptop or another label. Use the exact identifier when downloading BIOS, firmware, or model-specific drivers.

Do not post serial numbers unnecessarily

A serial number can be useful when dealing with the manufacturer, but the general model is normally enough for a public support question. Avoid sharing unique device identifiers publicly unless there is a specific reason.
