You can identify an HP laptop from Windows, from HP’s own support tools, or from the product label on the computer. For support and driver downloads, the HP product number or serial number can be more precise than the marketing model name alone.
Check the Windows system information
- Press Windows + R.
- Type msinfo32 and press Enter.
- Look for System Manufacturer and System Model.
This is often enough to identify the laptop family and model.

HP laptops commonly include a label or printed information containing a product name, product number, and serial number. The exact label location varies by model. HP support software can also identify supported HP devices.
Be careful when sharing the serial number

Why the exact model matters
