If your iPhone 15 keeps replacing words you intended to type, you can disable Auto-Correction in the keyboard settings. This affects Apple’s system keyboard behavior; a third-party keyboard can have its own correction controls.
Turn off Auto-Correction
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Select Keyboard.
- Find Auto-Correction.
- Turn the setting off.
Afterward, the iPhone should stop automatically substituting corrected words in the same way. Predictive suggestions and spell checking are separate features, so you can leave those enabled or adjust them independently.
If words are still being changed
Check whether you are using Apple’s keyboard or another keyboard installed from the App Store. Also review Text Replacement in the keyboard settings; a saved shortcut can expand into different text even when Auto-Correction is disabled.
If the keyboard learned an unwanted pattern over time, iOS also provides a keyboard-dictionary reset, but that removes learned keyboard data more broadly. Use it only when disabling or correcting individual settings has not addressed the problem.
Apple can reorganize Settings in later iOS versions, so searching Settings for “Auto-Correction” is a useful fallback if the menu path changes.
