If the mouse pointer disappears on a Dell laptop running Windows 10, first determine whether the touchpad was accidentally disabled or whether Windows has stopped responding to the pointing device. Keyboard navigation can restore many touchpad settings without requiring a mouse. As of October 14, 2025, Windows 10 is outside its standard support period.

Step 1: Try the Dell touchpad key
Look across the function-key row for a touchpad icon. On models that provide one, press that key or Fn plus that key to toggle the touchpad. The exact key varies by Dell model.
Step 2: Restart Windows
