The Pokemon Go app on your iPhone asks for permissions to use some of the features of your device. This can include things like access to Photos, your Camera, or your Health & Fitness data.
You can do more in the app with all of these permissions enabled, but you may find that you don’t like the AR features in the game, or that you feel nauseated when it’s active. Fortunately you can follow the steps below and remove Pokemon Go’s camera permissions so that the AR feature won’t launch anymore.
How to Disable Pokemon Go Camera Permissions
The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 7 Plus in iOS 12.3.1, using the most current version of the Pokemon Go app. Note that you will likely be prompted to re-enable camera permissions periodically in the app after you have turned them off.
Step 1: Open the Settings app.
Step 2: Scroll down and choose the Privacy option.
Step 3: Touch the Camera option.
Step 4: Tap the button to the right of Pokemon Go to disable camera permissions.
Note in step 3 above that there are also privacy menus for Photos and Health & Fitness as well. You can open those menus and change the permissions for Pokemon Go and other apps if you wish.
