Press Windows logo key + R, type winver, and press Enter. The About Windows box shows your version, such as 24H2, and the OS build number. You can also go to Start > Settings > System > About.

Check the version with winver
- Press Windows logo key + R to open Run.
- Type winver and select OK.
- Read the version and build in the About Windows box.
Check the version in Settings
Select Start > Settings > System > About. Under Windows specifications, you’ll see:
- Edition, such as Windows 11 Home or Pro.
- Version, such as 24H2. The first two digits are the year, and H2 means the second half.
- OS build, a more exact number used for updates and support.

Is my version up to date?
Select Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. Windows installs the latest updates and tells you when new versions are ready.
