You can open the Windows 11 context menu without a mouse by using the keyboard’s Menu key when available, or by pressing Shift + F10. This is useful for laptops, accessibility workflows, and troubleshooting a mouse or touchpad.
How to Right-Click With the Keyboard in Windows 11
- Use Tab, arrow keys, or another keyboard method to select the item you want to act on.
- Press Shift + F10.
- Use the arrow keys to move through the context menu.
- Press Enter to choose an option, or Esc to close the menu.
Use the Menu Key
Some full-size keyboards have a dedicated context-menu key, often located near the right Ctrl key. With an item selected, press that key to perform the equivalent of a right-click. Many compact keyboards omit it.
Windows 11’s Short and Full Context Menus
Windows 11 can initially show a shortened context menu. If the command you need is not visible, choose Show more options when available. Keyboard navigation can be used for both menus.
Enable Mouse Keys for Pointer Control
If you need to control the pointer for more than a single right-click, Windows accessibility settings include Mouse Keys on supported keyboards. This can let the numeric keypad move and click the pointer. Shift + F10 is simpler when you only need a context menu.
