To remove a user in Windows 10, sign in with an administrator account and select Start > Settings > Accounts > Family & other users. Under Other users, select the account, select Remove, and then select Delete account and data.

Before you start:
- You must be signed in as an administrator. See the FAQ if you’re not sure.
- You can’t remove the account you’re signed in with.
- Removing an account deletes that person’s files on this PC. Copy anything they need to keep first, or use the Control Panel method below.
Remove a user in Settings
- Select Start > Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
- Under Other users, select the account you want to remove.
- Select Remove.

- Select Delete account and data.

Removing a Microsoft account from the PC doesn’t close the account. The person can still use it online and on other devices.
Remove a user and keep their files (Control Panel)
- Press Windows logo key + R, type
control, and press Enter. - Select User Accounts > User Accounts > Manage another account.
- Select the account, and then select Delete the account.
- Select Keep Files to save their desktop and documents to a folder on your desktop, or Delete Files.
- Select Delete Account.
Remove family members
Accounts under Your family are managed online. Select Manage family settings online on the same page and remove the person from your Microsoft family group there.

Select Start > Settings > Accounts > Your info. Administrator appears under your name if you are one.
The Remove button is missing. Why?
It’s hidden for the account you’re signed in with and for family members. Sign in with another administrator account, or use Manage family settings online for family members.
