You can delete a contact on an iPad from Apple’s Contacts app. If the contact belongs to iCloud, Google, Exchange, or another synchronized account, deleting it can also remove that contact from other devices connected to the same account.
Steps
Step 1: Open Contacts
Open the Contacts app on the iPad.
Step 2: Select the contact
Find and tap the person you want to remove.
Step 3: Tap Edit
Tap Edit in the upper-right corner.
Step 4: Choose Delete Contact
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Contact.
Step 5: Confirm the deletion
Tap Delete Contact again when prompted.
What Happens Next
The contact disappears from the account that stores it and may synchronize that deletion to other connected devices.
Troubleshooting and Useful Details
If Delete Contact is unavailable, the entry may come from a managed or read-only directory rather than an editable contacts account. Before deleting an important contact, confirm which account owns it and whether that account provides a recovery method.
Before You Delete a Synced Contact
Check which account stores the contact if you use iCloud, Google, Exchange, or another contacts provider. A deletion can synchronize to your other devices. If you only want to stop messages or calls from someone, blocking is a different action and may be the better choice.
If Delete Contact Is Missing
A contact supplied by a company directory or another read-only source may not be editable on the iPad. Open the contact and review its account/source rather than trying to remove an account or change synchronization settings just to delete one directory entry.
