How to Stop an iPhone 7 from Automatically Capitalizing Words

The steps in this guide are going to show you how to change a setting on your iPhone 7 so that it stops automatically capitalizing some of the words you type.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Choose the General option.
  3. Select the Keyboard option.
  4. Tap the button to the right of Auto-Capitalization to turn it off.

How to Stop Auto Capitalization on an iPhone

The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 7 Plus in iOS 12.3.1, but will work on other iPhone models using this same version of iOS, as well as many earlier versions of iOS.

Step 1: Touch the Settings icon.

Step 2: Scroll down and select the General option.

Step 3: Choose the Keyboard option.

Step 4: Tap the button to the right of Auto-Capitalization.

Your iPhone will no longer automatically capitalize words when there is no green shading around that button.
